The challenges

Why radio marketing is different

Selling a station online isn't like selling shoes or software. A listener gives you a few seconds, a national network is outbidding you on every genre search, and your advertisers want numbers before they'll buy a spot. Here's what that changes.

Listeners leave in one tap

A slow player loses the listener before the first song ends. Spotify, SiriusXM and a dozen apps are one tap away, so the stream has to start fast, keep playing in the background on a phone, and survive a weak signal in the car. We treat load time and the play button as the most important parts of the site.

The big networks own the generic searches

Search "radio" or "music radio" and you'll see national brands with huge ad budgets and thousands of linking sites. A small station can't outspend them, and it doesn't have to. Genre searches like "new wave radio" or "rock n roll radio" are where listeners already know what they want, and that's where a focused station can win.

Mobile is everything

Most listening happens on phones. That means the site, the iOS and Android apps, and the smart-speaker skills all need to work together, show the same station name and logo, and point back to one home on the web.

Fans want to take part

Requests, dedications, charts and polls turn someone who tuned in once into a regular. Every one of those is also a reason to come back to the site, which tells Google the station matters to real people.

Advertisers need proof

Media buyers don't buy airtime on a hunch. They want weekly listeners, reach, where the audience is, and a clear page that explains how to advertise. Without that page, the sales conversation starts from zero every time.

Several stations, one team

Running five stations means five sites, five sets of apps and five audiences. A shared platform keeps every station fast and on-brand without building the same feature five times, and lets one fix reach the whole network.

How a small network beats the big media companies

We don't try to out-spend national broadcasters. We pick fights they can't be bothered with, and we do the basics better than they do.

01

Own the genre, not the word "radio"

National networks spread their effort across hundreds of formats. We give each station one clear genre and build its site around the searches fans actually type. That focus is how New Wave Music Radio reached #1 on Google for "new wave radio", Rock n Roll Music Radio reached #1 for "rock n roll radio" and The Alternative One reached #1 for "alternative one radio" and "the alternative one" (US Google, checked October 2026).

02

One station, one page, one clear answer

Each station gets its own page that says plainly what it plays, how to listen and where to get the app. Search engines and AI assistants can understand it in seconds. Big network pages are often a player and a logo with almost no text, which leaves Google guessing.

03

Faster than the giants

A lean station site with a light player loads faster than a media company's page full of ad scripts and trackers. Speed keeps listeners and is something Google measures directly.

04

Be everywhere listeners look

We get each station listed and kept consistent in the directories and apps people browse for radio, so the same name, logo and link show up everywhere. Assistants and search engines trust a station they see described the same way in many places.

05

Turn listeners into links

Charts, requests and artist features give fans and bands a reason to share and link to the station. Those links are what move a small site up past bigger ones, and you can't buy them.

06

Sell the audience the big networks ignore

A national network sells broad reach. A genre station sells a loyal, clearly defined audience. We build the advertiser page and the numbers that make that case to media buyers.

The result: Yacht Rock Radio grew organic traffic by +300%, and New Wave Music Radio ranks #1 on Google for "new wave radio" (US Google, checked October 2026).
